The State of New Mexico Administrator Competencies and the Professional Standards for Education Leaders 2015 will be emphasized to capture the essential aspects of leadership at both the state and national levels. Specific admissions and matriculation requirements are available through the university catalog and students are encouraged to carefully read all documentation. Student Learning Outcomes Collaboratively evaluate, develop, and communicate a school mission and vision, using this to lead improvement processes. Model ethical and professional norms. Evaluates, cultivates and advocates for equitable, inclusive and culturally responsive instruction and behavior support practices. Evaluate, develops, and implements high-quality, technology-rich curricula programs and other supports for academic and non-academic student programs, addressing the needs of a culturally and linguistically diverse student population. Collaboratively engage and cultivate relationships with diverse community members, partners, and other constituencies for the benefit of school improvement and student development. The MA program provides general course work in each of the major fields of political science. Students may choose either the thesis option, under which they complete 30 credits of course work plus 6 thesis credits (POLS 599 Master's Thesis), or the nonthesis option, with 30 credits of course work plus 6 hours of special research credit (POLS 598 Special Research Programs) or 6 hours of approved internship credit (POLS 510 Internship). Both the thesis and nonthesis options require a final oral examination; the non thesis option requires a written examination as well. The program provides a broad-based foundation in political science while allowing students to pursue specific areas of interest. -
