Graduates gain the credentials to counsel patients with substance abuse challenges, mental or behavioral health issues, or relationship problems. Master’s of Arts in Social Work coursework combines academic study of theories, psychology, and problem solving techniques with hands-on practical work. Practicums may include internships in clinics, schools, or community organizations.

The MA in Social Work is the entry level certification for becoming a counselor. With this master’s degree, an individual can become licensed to counsel teens, children, or adults. This MA is the ticket to a rewarding career in counseling.
