Students are first exposed to the main theoretical perspectives and subsequently to the professionally-oriented principles of migration. Led by scholars and practitioners in the field of migration, topics covered in the courses include immigration and citizenship policies; legal and ethical perspectives on refuge and asylum; the labor market integration of immigrants; the challenges of social integration and ethnic identification of the “second generation”; marginalization and discrimination; migration and the environment; and best practices in international development and humanitarian aid, among other subjects.
