This is a newly launched Master’s programme in the interdisciplinary field of human rights, with a profile within the humanities. The programme combines historical, philosophical, political and legal perspectives on the complex phenomenon that human rights represent in our world. The teaching faculty reflects the academic width of the master’s programme. We are committed to the view that human rights need to be regarded and studied not only as ethical principles or ground for law and policy but also as part of the infrastructure of a democratic society. Students have the opportunity to complete an internship as part of their studies. The programme is offered by the Human Rights Studies division at the Department of History, which is also home to the only PhD programme in interdisciplinary human rights studies in Sweden.... [-]

Applied cultural analysis is a multidisciplinary field of work and study that is heavily influenced by cultural theoretical perspectives and ethnographic methods coming from disciplines of study such as anthropology, ethnology and public folklore. It emphasises the teaching and implementation of strategies of collaborative engagement between university-trained scholars and actors beyond the university system.

The programme aims to develop and deepen students’ knowledge and skills within the field of applied cultural analysis. It emphasises the use of ethnography and cultural analysis as a means of helping organisations and businesses as well as municipal and community-based actors to develop their services, products and public outreach programmes.
