This programme offers an unrivalled opportunity to study Shakespeare in the heart of his hometown, Stratford-upon-Avon. Delivered by and taught at The Shakespeare Institute, it develops a critical but appreciative understanding of Shakespeare’s contribution to literary and theatrical history, and the place his works occupy in today’s cultural landscape. It provides you with a rigorous and wide-ranging knowledge of approaches to the study of Shakespeare, with emphasis on criticism, textual studies, the plays in performance, and the history of Shakespeare's reception.

The Musicology and Sound Studies pathway aims to equip you with core historical and analytical skills as well as enable you to operate in a field that is broadly interdisciplinary. The program features two core modules, allowing you to tailor the content to areas of specific interest with your choice of optional modules. This program is ideal for those who wish to extend their study of historical musicology and/or ethnomusicology further and explore particular topics in-depth, and it can also be used as a route into Ph.D. research.

This unique program has been designed to create forward-thinking conversations about what Shakespeare is and what Shakespeare can be in today’s world. As a student on the only course of its kind in the world, you will study everything from the history of Shakespeare in society, literary criticism, and theatre practices; before putting your knowledge into practice through a newly devised piece of theatre in response to Shakespeare’s work. This creative and ambitious program is ideal for aspiring academics, actors, writers, directors, arts administrators, as well as anyone with a lively interest in Shakespeare.

The first and only MA of its kind to focus on queer performance, this course offers broad training in a range of queer performance practices, delivered by renowned queer artists, theatre-makers, academics, and researchers. Fiercely socially engaged, political, experimental, and interdisciplinary, the course provides an in-depth, comprehensive examination of queer performance practice, studying its themes, methodologies, and untapped possibilities.

This course is the only postgraduate program in the world that takes candidates through a course of study that culminates in their receiving Designated Linklater Teacher status along with the MFA degree. A deep dive into the Linklater Voice method is the foundation of the MFA. The program was designed in close collaboration with Ms. Linklater and reflects her ideas of what a twenty-first-century postgraduate course for actor-teachers should look like. It is, in part, a voice-centred actor-training, rooted in Linklater’s approach to voice as fundamental to a whole system.

International Theatre Practice and Performance (ITPP) offers training for multi-disciplinary practitioners, with elements of acting, directing, writing, ensemble training, and contemporary performance. Multidisciplinary training with elements of acting, directing, writing, and collaborative ensemble practices. This program, designed specifically for US-based students, is delivered in partnership with the National Theater Institute (NTI) in Connecticut.

Arthaus. Berlin International School offers the international performing arts community full-time and part-time training programs on the postgraduate level in the field of devised theatre and performance. Practitioners with a background in theatre, performance, dance, circus arts, visual arts, design, architecture, directing, writing, or choreographing, can enroll in one of our MA or MFA degree programs or complete the training with a professional development certificate.

This advanced and rigorous MA/ MFA Contemporary Directing Practice program offers an experiential two-year course, where students will develop their vocabulary and find their own voice and vision as a director while acquiring and honing a diverse variety of skills, techniques, tools, and devices.

Developed and led by renowned Actor Musician Jeremy Harrison, this vocational program builds on and extends the work developed on the College’s ground-breaking BA (Hons) Actor Musicianship program, drawing on our strong links to theatre-makers, directors, choreographers, writers, musical directors and performers involved in the development of this innovative area of theatre practice.

The MA/MFA Actor/Performer Training is a practice-based program for those seeking intensive advanced training as actors and performers alongside rigorous academic study and performance research. The program focuses specifically on actor/performer training, theatre creation, performative writing, informed critical reflection, and practice research.

Our MA Filmmaking is a non-specialist degree, training students in a variety of craft areas. Taught within small crews and units, we welcome students from over 40 countries. This programme is offered three times a year, with entry points in January, May and September.

In this course, you can study anything from introductory film studies to Film Noir, Shakespeare to science fiction, Victorian novels to Hollywood films, or Romantic poetry to art cinema. For the English modules, we start by covering topics such as how to analyze a poem and how to read a novel as a literary critic, moving on to historical surveys of the literature.

As an emerging or experienced choreographer, this MFA course will help you refine your artistic practice by advancing your creative, technical and performance skills. The programme includes technique classes, choreography workshops, laboratory sessions, dialogue, writing and reflection. You will be encouraged to experiment and take risks in a series of self-directed choreographic projects that help you develop a portfolio of work.

The MA Producing course offers students a unique opportunity to develop the necessary skills to become the next generation of entrepreneurs in the screen business world. The programme aims to provide an insight into, and mastery of, creative development, physical production, and business and finance in relation to the creative screen industries.
