Master of Arts (MA) in Music

The Lucerne School of Music has originated from masterclasses which were taught every summer by the prestigious soloists of the world-famous Lucerne Festival. Eminent musicians such as Carl Flesch, Wolfgang Schneiderhahn, Edwin Fischer and others have thus created a tradition and spirit of music teaching which is nowadays still present in the Lucerne School of Music.

The study programmes for the Master of Arts in Music (classical music, jazz music and folk music) are taught in German. Teachers may agree to teach in a foreign language, however; many of them, of course, speak English, French, Italian or other languages. Nevertheless, to follow the classes and to make contact with locals easier, you need a certain fluency in German (written and spoken). In English, the Lucerne School of Music offers to qualified students an interesting range of study programmes for Certificates of Advanced Studies as well as prestigious masterclasses.
