A Master of Arts (MA) in Museum Studies involves a comprehensive look at museum and gallery collections, including the interpretation of the gallery and the study of cultural heritage preservation. This program will offer students an opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of museums and learn the skills to develop a career within the heritage, gallery or museum sector.

Students who are unfamiliar with the program might ask, what is an MA in Museum Studies? This program is an in depth study of the cultural heritage movement and the theoretical and practical aspects of working within a variety of associated institutions. Some of the courses offered include managing museums and cultural heritage, contemporary art, skills for cultural heritage, interdisciplinary methods for heritage research, museum theory and history, the study of exhibitions and more.

Students who embark in this master's program can benefit from learning a variety of skills that can be used in different aspects of life, and not just in a historical institution. From managerial skills to community outreach and object-based learning, students will cover it all with this course. Each program cost will vary depending on the institution it is offered at and which country the institution is located. Prospective students should research the program thoroughly to determine if the courses match their career goals, and then contact the institution directly for specific registration fees and associated costs.

Graduates of the program may find themselves in high demand for a variety of positions, including archaeologist, genealogist, historian, museum owner, operator or manager, or philosopher. Students may also opt to further their education and become a professor or educator of various historical or archaeological topics.
