The full-time study programme is offered entirely in Italian and comprises 120 ECTS (for a usual duration of 2 years). The study programme of the Master covers three main subject areas: Italian language / Italian and comparative literature / Arts, history and culture, within a holistic framework encouraging the encounter of expertise from different academic fields. Italian literature, the central subject of the Master, is taught with constant reference to the culture in which it has been produced and studied.

The teaching staff includes internationally renowned scholars with outstanding research records in the various fields. Learning benefits from the linguistic and cultural situation in Ticino, an Italian speaking environment open to multilingualism, and from the excellent study conditions at Università della Svizzera italiana. The courses of the two years Master of Arts in Italian language, literature and culture are concentrated mainly in three semesters. The intense study in the three areas of the Master prepares students - supported by their teachers - to make decisions relevant for their future career (PhD, teaching, other career perspectives). The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master thesis, whose topic is defined together with the director of the thesis and approved by the direction of the Master.
