The research and teaching focus of Department 09 of Universität Frankfurt – Japanese Studies – focuses on pre-modern and modern/contemporary Japan. The department’s teaching is based on a solid repertoire of philology, literature, cultural history and the history of ideas, all of which emphasises the linguistic components and forms the foundation for thorough research into Japan.

The canon of classical research into philology, literature and the history of ideas is complemented by the contemporary spectrum of cultural sciences. Reflections on the temporal aspects of research approaches and precise reasons for the establishment of a new theoretical analysis toolbox for each of the relevant themes form part of the basic training in Japanese studies in Frankfurt.... The FAU Master of Arts English Studies is a degree programme with a focus on research. It offers an in-depth study of the English language and the literature and cultures of Great Britain and Ireland (as well as other English speaking countries). The M.A. Russian and East Central European Studies is a research-oriented, interdisciplinary degree programme. Its aim is to equip students with profound knowledge of the countries and cultures of Eastern Europe by placing the focus on historical, literary and cultural studies. You will also acquire methodological, theoretical and applied skills as you progress through your degree studies. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to learn or perfect your Czech, Polish and/or Russian language skills by making use of the relevant Language Centre courses. As the programme is focused on Eastern Europe, you will gain essential knowledge of one of the world's primary growing regions.

Organisation EUMASLI is an innovative European Master’s programme for sign language interpreters, which has been developed by three universities in Germany, Finland and Great Britain as part of an EU Erasmus funded programme, and has been offered jointly by them since January 2009. EUMASLI is a part-time continuing education program (90 ECTS over 5 semesters). EUMASLI 1.3K14 EUMASLI – European Master in Sign Language Interpreting – is an innovative international master study programme that is intended to contribute to the development of the professional field of interpreting between deaf and hearing people by bringing together sign language interpreters from across the world.
