Journalism is concerned with writing and communicating stories and current events and analyzing past events in order to help individuals better understand the past, present, and the potential future world. Journalists work to gather the facts surrounding an event and then relay that information to their readers, viewers and subscribers.

Education in the United Kingdom is a devolved matter with each of the countries of the United Kingdom having separate systems under different governments: the UK Government is responsible for England, and the Scottish Government, the Welsh Government and the Northern Ireland Executive are responsible for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, respectively.

Lincoln is a town in England with a population of less than 100 thousand, with one third being higher education students. Earliest origins of Lincoln are found to be from Iron age, around 1st century BC while the most significant remains are from Roman times.

UK filmmakers are renowned throughout the world for their originality, creativity, and craft. Lincoln’s MA Film Production aims to equip students with the skills needed to become the next generation of innovative filmmakers. Students can learn the art and craft of film through a series of workshops with academics and guest lectures by industry professionals. Previous guest speakers include Deborah Haywood, writer-director of Pin Cushion (2017) and Lucas Roche, who edits for director Shane Meadows. During the programme students are able to make two short documentaries, write and make a short fictional film, and either write a fictional feature screenplay or make a film of their choice for their final project. Optional modules may include screenwriting, media ecologies, or gender and media. -

It also offers an academically rigorous approach to critical analysis of the subject. Students will have the opportunity to develop a hands-on, multiplatform perspective of the journalistic world, with the chance to specialise in a medium of their choice. An assessed work placement enables students to gain hands-on experience and there may also be the opportunity to hear from guest speakers who are leading names in the industry. Previous speakers have included Head of ITN programmes for ITV news Richard Frediani; Editor-in-Chief (digital) of Empire magazine James Dyer; BBC Director of London 2012 Roger Mosey; and former Head of Channel 4 News Dorothy Byrne. -
