An MA or Master of Arts degree is obtained by students after completing a one- to two-year program studying History, English or other fine arts or humanities subjects. MA studies are most often a mix of research and coursework.

International studies may enable world issues to be analyzed through the perspective of multiple cultures. Some issues that may benefit from being looked at from a global viewpoint include environment, international relations, business and education.

The 48 contiguous states and the federal district of Washington, D.C. are in first North America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is in northwestern North America, west of Canada and east of Russia across the Bering Strait, and the state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-North Pacific. The country also has five populated and nine unpopulated territories in the Pacific and the Caribbean.
