You learn alongside students from our other MA Fashion Management, Marketing and Communication courses, and have the option to transfer MA titles if you’re specialism changes.
We have over 40 years of expertise in fashion design, and this course has been designed to help you to develop your creative, academic and professional potential. You’ll devise an individual programme of study, in the form of a project, which could be focused on your career aspirations, or an experimental investigation into fashion, art and fabrication. We will support you through flexible and responsive teaching and learning, helping you to explore and challenge the limits of fashion design.
This course, with its new pathway in Knit, continues to develop a holistic and exciting approach to fashion design and beyond. Retaining our heritage and specialism in womenswear, menswear and knitwear, the course combines industry standards with a creative and contemporary approach to fashion design.
This MA is cross-faculty, interdisciplinary, and extremely practical. By the end of the course, you will have developed a strong critical understanding of the various challenges faced by the UK fashion industry and acquired the practical and entrepreneurial skills you need to succeed on this creative career path.
You will study at our Markeaton Street site which has both traditional and industrial equipment, and advanced new technology in our fashion and textiles' studios and other specialised workshops. Students benefit from our excellent links with industry in the fashion and textiles sectors
At the end of the course, young designers will have acquired the skills required to work in both French and overseas fashion companies and, where this is their ultimate aim, to create their own fashion label.
This 2-year graduate course prepares for management and sales event functions within the fashion industry business. In order to fully experience and understand the academic teaching, each student complete 2 work placements during the length of the course, each taking place during the academic year and lasting between 10 to 12 weeks.
Department of Scenography at the Faculty of Architecture and Design consists of five design studios, which conduct an interdisciplinary design and artistic educational work directed at the conscious and responsible shaping of the visual identity of the ‘stage’-the nearest environment. Stage Design and Fashion Design as specializations refer to creating ‘occasional space’ (theatre, TV studio, exhibitions, shows, spectacles, parades etc.).

Developing sustainable design strategies and management approaches in the creative industries – the Sustainability in Fashion and Creative Industries Master's program seeks to educate “change agents” who can make widespread changes in the creative industries with an integrated, sustainability-oriented approach.
