The MA Gender with special reference to the Middle East is our newest pathway degree yet and is introduced at a time when SOAS is celebrating its 100 years anniversary. Its main goal is to re-focus discussions related to gender and sexuality to the unique and rich region of the Middle East. This pathway coincides with the increased relevance of the Middle East to the disciplines of development and International Relations, in addition to its omnipresence in mainstream news and media.

The MA Middle Eastern Studies provides exceptional opportunities for studying this diverse and fascinating area at the postgraduate level through a variety of disciplinary approaches. The main emphasis of the programme is on the modern period through the modules in history, geography, politics, economics and anthropology.

The SOAS MA programme in Taiwan Studies is the first postgraduate degree focussing on contemporary Taiwan in the English speaking world. It provides an unrivalled programme of advanced interdisciplinary courses on Taiwan’s politics, society and culture, film, rights and law, and languages. SOAS is the world’s leading centre for the study of Taiwan. Each year its Centre of Taiwan Studies runs a very vibrant series of academic events, film screenings, concerts and conferences that are designed to create a unique environment for the study of Taiwan.

In the Master’s programme in Cultural History, you will study Europe’s position in the world from a cultural historical perspective, with an emphasis on modern history.

Master of Arts in Latin American Studies (MALAS) provides students with in-depth study and advanced understanding of Latin America.
