According to the U.S. Department of Education, three types of masters programs exist research, professional, and terminal. The most popular masters degree types are Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Science (M.S.) in a mixture of subject fields.

Archaeology uses the structures and relics of past civilizations to learn more about their history and culture. Among the items studied are tools, religious artifacts, artwork and physical remains. A specific focus of study will normally be chosen, such as a geographic area, type of society or time period.

The Netherlands is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, consisting of twelve provinces in North-West Europe and three islands in the Caribbean. English speaking students will have no problems finding suitable courses. For international students applying to universities in the Netherlands, several scholarships are available.
