With the rapid growing potential of tourism as a leading industry in Turkish Economy and all over the world, the need for well-trained and well educated managerial human power with professional knowledge, business sense, human relations skills and technical knowledge have increased. Due to these necessities, Yaşar University has established a tourism management graduate program.
This program offers a higher level tourism management education which aims to closely follow and teach the actual trends and progresses in the fields of tourism in general, and intensively in the sub-areas of the sector such as hotel management, tourism marketing, tourism policy and planning, financial aspects of tourism sector, sustainability and quality applications in tourism and also to identify the richness of resources, issues and problems of Turkish Tourism Industry.
The basic objective of the program is to prepare MA candidates for managerial positions in the tourism industry. In order to reach this objective, the program aims to make the students to observe current developments in tourism sector, to carry out academic researches on the issues above mentioned, to co-operate and coordinate continuously with tourism sector and the members of industry like hotels, holiday villages, airlines, travel intermediaries, tour operators, MICE and destination marketing organizations and such to learn to prepare research projects needed by the sector and contribute in solving the problems of tourism operations, to identify and bring solutions potential problems of the industry, to provide and acknowledge a deep insight into the understanding of tourism business and its environment, to develop the skills, professional attitude, and competence required to design, execute and evaluate decisions, policies and strategies, as well as developing the skills to apply this knowledge in an appropriate basis and also contribute to tourism awareness of public.
The students will also be equipped with the ability to do research and to evaluate international events and problems related to tourism individually.
The non-thesis program includes 9 elective lectures of 30 ECTS per semester, (minimum 50 % from the department as THMN coded courses), seminar lecture and a term project.
The program with thesis includes 7 elective lectures of 30 ECTS per semester, (minimum 50 % from the department as THMN coded courses), seminar lecture and the thesis.
