Program Description

The Master of Arts in Reading Specialization: Basic Skills program is designed to provide in-depth training in the basic skills areas of mathematics, writing, and reading. It is designed to meet the students’ career interests for work in the elementary/secondary classroom or with college/adult populations. The curriculum focuses on the needs of classroom teachers who are responsible for increasing their students’ basic skills. It enables the graduate student to develop a general understanding of basic skills and their interrelationship; to relate this understanding and knowl­edge to the acquisition of higher-level cognitive skills.
