MA in Organizational Psychology

Integrating theory, research, applied skills, and community service, the Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology (MAOP) program prepares students to effect change by guiding and counselling leadership. The program encompasses multiple disciplines—organizational psychology, organizational development, leadership practice, and counselling theory and practice—and offers a flexible format for professional learners.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

• At least a baccalaureate degree earned from a college or university regionally accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or an equivalent degree from a foreign university

• A grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for undergraduate and graduate coursework

• Completionof 12 semester credit hours in psychology with grades of “C” or better

• Courses must include introductory psychology, research methods, and two other courses in the fields of psychology or organizational studies

• Applicants who meet the admission standards will be invited to complete an in-person writing sample and interview with faculty

Degree Requirements

• Satisfactory completion of 52 credit hours, including all required courses (the only exceptions are any courses accepted for transfer credit in accordance with the School’s official Transfer Credit policy)

• 350 minimum clock hours of an organizational psychology practicum

• 150 clock hours of a Community Service Practicum

• A cumulativeGPA of 3.0 or higher and no more than two "C" grades (or 6 credit hours)

• Successful completion of M.A. Research Project

• Completion of graduation application and full payment of any outstanding tuition or other fees

• Faculty approval for graduation and recommendation to the Board of Trustees for the conferral of the Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology


Graduates of the Master of Arts in Organizational Psychology program are not eligible for registration as a clinical counsellor. However, students interested in this registration can take additional coursework and practicum credits through the Adler School M.A. in Counselling Psychology program.
