Lund University offers you a unique opportunity to pursue advanced studies in languages and linguistics at Master’s level. At the Centre for Languages and Literature, you will have access to the most modern resources for research and education.
You will study together with students from a number of different fields of specialisation, such as Arabic/Semitic Languages, English, Greek, Modern Greek, Latin, Italian, Romanian, Swedish/Scandinavian Languages, Chinese, Japanese, Phonetics and General Linguistics.
All Master's students partake in the obligatory courses common to all specialisations while simultaneously deepening their knowledge in their specialisations’ own courses. The programme thus combines a broad and sound base in advanced linguistics with an expertise in your own specialisation.
The Master of Arts (120 credits) programme consists of the following:
- Compulsory courses common to all specialisations (15): Philosophy of Science for Linguists (7.5), Fundamental Linguistic Methods (7.5)
- Compulsory courses for each specialisation (30) and a Master's degree thesis (30)
- Elective courses (45), to be selected from a list available from the programme coordinator
Find information about the courses on the programme at www.sol.lu.se/en/program/haspv/
With a Master’s degree in Language and Linguistics, you will not only be well-prepared for further academic studies (PhD studies), but you will also be attractive for employers looking for a highly qualified individual with specialised knowledge in communication and language.
