The Master of Arts in English and Writing Studies meets the needs and interests of several groups: teachers across disciplines and levels who wish to integrate writing into instruction in support of student learning; teachers who want to learn pedagogy and strategies to improve their teaching of writing as well as enhance their workplace writing skills; and aspiring career writers who wish to build credentials in the field. The Master of Arts in English and Writing Studies program is designed to provide a solid understanding of both writing theory and pedagogy; coursework on emerging perspectives and practices in critical topics in the field, such as technology, assessment and to offer advanced creative and professional writing courses for personal enrichment and career advancement.
