The chief outcome of recent economic studies is to make the economics graduates recognize the need for modern methods in econometrics, operation research and other methods of economic inquiries. The discussion which includes algebra or calculus has been developed through this graduate study. The graduate programs are designed to provide students theoretical foundation with the modern tools and techniques to understand the current economic issues and forecast about future developments, such as inflation rate, economic growth and development, economic integration, globalization and economic crisis that effect almost every section of the economy. The Department of Economics aims to equip its graduate students with knowledge, insight to understand and analyze the main economic issues such as problems in production, distribution of income, and use of the resource can be analyzed in detail.
The graduate program in thought in English or Turkish and this graduate program can be completed with thesis and non-thesis. The students are required to complete five courses and two elective courses and in total at least 21 credit hours for the master’s with thesis program. In addition, the students must submit a “graduate thesis” which constitutes 9 credit hours. The students are required to complete five main courses and five elective courses and in total at least 30 credit hours for the non- thesis program. In addition, the student must prepare and submit a “final project”.
