This programme extends the knowledge, understanding and skills of professionals in education who have a commitment to their continuing professional development and improved practice. It also meets the needs of participants who wish to further their study of education as an academic discipline and is seen as a progression route to the Doctorate in Education within the School of Education.
Participants build their programme by combining core courses, option courses and an educational research project. In this way, it is possible to achieve an endorsed MA which focuses on a specialist area of particular professional and/or academic relevance to an individual or institution. The programme currently offers the following endorsements: Leadership and Management, eLearning, Higher Education, Literacy, International, Special Educational Needs, Youth and Community, Early years and Childhood.

Provide current and aspiring education practitioners and institutions with a flexible Master's programme which extends knowledge and practice through study and research Support continuing professional development, facilitating the progression of practitioners and institutions and contributing to personal and institutional effectiveness Provide those with a background and/or strong interest in education with a rigorous and engaging introduction to studying education as an academic subject at postgraduate level.
Enquiry Skills and Research (30 credits) Enquiry Project (60 credits) 30-credit options from a range including: Organisational Leadership and Management; Personal Leadership; Literacy (Exploring Texts for Learning); Literacy and Learning (Enriching Practice); The Child's Lived Experience (Developing Confident Learners); Leadership and Management in Early Years; Key Themes and Debates in Childhood; Critical Approaches to Research in Childhood; Principles and Practice of Youth and Community Work; The Professional Practice of Youth and Community Work; Policy and Practice in Technology Enhanced Learning; 21st Century Technologies and Education; Critical Issues in SEN and Disability (Pedagogy and Practice); Critical Issues in SEN and Disability (Discourse and Policy); Comparative Education; Negotiated Independent Study (90 credits).
Applicants should have: An undergraduate degree at 2.1 or above OR an undergraduate degree at 2.2 and a professional qualification in, for example, education, health or the emergency services.
