Program Description

The Master of Science in Financial Analysis and Investment Management (MS-FAIM) is focused on the quantitative techniques used in a corporate financial analysis, investment portfolio management, and risk management. Its blend of theory and practice provides a grounded and practical education. Students with undergraduate degrees in disciplines such as business, economics, accounting, mathematics, statistics, engineering, and science do well in the MS-FAIM Program, but it is open to all who are qualified.

The MS-FAIM Program is part-time, lock-step and cohort-based and is taught over 5 academic quarters spanning 15 consecutive months. The program enrolls new students every July. Classes are held late afternoons and evenings at the American Management Association's Executive Conference Center, located at the Marriott Hotel at 4th and Market in San Francisco's financial district. Students take 2 classes per quarter, and classes meet once a week between Monday and Friday.

The School of Economics and Business Administration prepares students for challenging and interesting careers, in the context of the fine liberal arts education. The School of Economics and Business Administration offers distinguished undergraduate degree programs, such as the Bachelor of Science in Accounting, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and the choice of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Economics. Our programs prepare students for challenging and interesting careers, in the context of the fine liberal arts education provided to all students at Saint Mary’s. Essential to both professional and liberal education are strong interpersonal capabilities, including oral and written communications, and the confidence and ability to address both technical and human dimensions of organizational life. In keeping with the College’s Catholic and Lasallian Christian Brother’s heritage, integrity and ethical consciousness are emphasized. Graduate Business, a Department within the School of Economics and Business Administration of Saint Mary’s College, provides a variety of part-time programs that are rooted in intellectual inquiry and the application of theory-based concepts. Graduate Business was founded in 1975 with the inauguration of the Executive MBA Program. In 1984, the Professional MBA Program was introduced, and in 2004 Graduate Business launched the M.S. in Financial Analysis and Investment Management (MS-FAIM) Program. Many of our students are already working professionals. Saint Mary's provides a peaceful, scenic and secure haven from the workplace routine, allowing you to fully focus on the pursuit of academic and professional goals.
