Microelectronics is a field related to study and microfabrication of electronic components which help to miniaturize the size of electronic circuits and systems made from semiconductors. Many components of a normal electronic design such as transistors, capacitors etc., have their microelectronic equivalent. They are employed in today's chip technologies that accommodate analog, digital and mixed-signal circuits on micro-dimensional semiconductor wafers. As techniques improve, the scale of microelectronic components continues to decrease. At smaller scales, the relative impact of intrinsic circuit properties such as interconnections (called the parasitic effects) may become more significant. The M.E. Microelectronics program aims at offering courses that provide necessary skill set required by the microelectronics design engineer to find ways to compensate for or to minimize these effects, while always delivering smaller, faster, and cheaper devices in line with the current technological developments.
The M.E. Microelectronics program primarily covers the broad areas namely Modeling of Microelectronic Devices, IC Fabrication Technology, VLSI Architecture and Design, CAD tools for Analog and Digital IC Design in addition to discipline based elective courses in emerging & advanced areas.
Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is one of the first departments at BITS Pilani, Dubai campus established in the year 2000. The department is dedicated to the teaching and research activities in the areas of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering. The department educates the students to take up challenging jobs in a wide range of industries and engage themselves in research and development activities for the good of society.
Courses offered by the department cater to learning needs from basics to the advanced level. Department offers a variety of discipline electives and covers most of the modern technologies. It has state of the art laboratories to provide hands-on experiences and support research activities.

A minimum aggregate of 60% in B.E. / B.Tech. in EEE/E&I/ECE/CS or M.Sc. Physics or its equivalent.
Candidates who meet the above criteria will be required to appear and successfully clear the Aptitude test / Interview to qualify for admission.
