goals

The Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry is an inter-university degree jointly taught by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), and the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC).

It is a one-year postgraduate ficial title (60 ECTS) that combines the teaching and research experience of three of the most prestigious departments in our country in this field, and the experience of leading research institutions and companies in their fields. respective areas, with the aim of providing students with specific high-level training in Organic Chemistry, whether they direct their interest to the exciting field of research, or whether they want to direct their professional life towards industry.

The objective of the University Master's Degree is to provide fundamental theoretical and applied training for access to the Doctorate or for the practice of the profession of chemist in laboratories, production systems, and private and institutional R & D & I systems that require proficiency in Organic Chemistry.

Recipients

To access the University Master's Degree, you must have a Bachelor's Degree or Degree in Chemistry or related fields of knowledge. In any case, access to the program requires a good background in Organic Chemistry, both theoretical (knowledge of advanced organic synthesis and structural elucidation) and experimental (experience in laboratory techniques and operations in organic chemistry).

In the selection process of candidates, the academic record will be valued, especially in the subjects related to Organic Chemistry.

Why study this master?

It is an inter-university degree that combines the teaching and research experience of three of the most prestigious Organic Chemistry departments in our country and the experience of leading research institutions and companies in their respective areas.

The great development that Organic Chemistry has achieved in the last decades and its central position in relation to interdisciplinary areas of maximum current importance (biological chemistry, synthesis, nanotechnology, new materials, catalysis, etc.), make it one of the disciplines most active in the current scientific landscape. The profile of the graduates gives access to the doctoral programs of universities and research centers. Likewise, the ability to provide solutions in the development of consumer goods (drugs, plastics, textiles, food, etc.), in the diagnosis and treatment of environmental problems, or in the interpretation of biological processes, make Organic Chemistry a Training profile highly demanded by the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. In this sense, we have been developing a pilot job incorporation program for our graduates for several years, in collaboration with companies in the sector, including: Janssen Cilag, Synthelia, BASF, ERCROS, Crystalpharma, CLH and Repsol.
