This International Business Management MSc programme is a well-established programme designed to meet the needs of students who have already completed an undergraduate business related degree and who wish to develop their subject specialism in international business management. The programme will allow you to gain an in-depth understanding of this rapidly changing and dynamic international environment. You will also develop the skills to identify the strategies available to firms operating at an international level. We encourage an understanding of the economics of the international environment as well as the ethical issues of operating across countries. This course attracts students from around the world and the teaching environment is very international in its nature.

Programme Structure

Programme Length: 12 months full-time, commencing in January and September each year. 2 years part-time.

The course has been designed to provide a core framework for studying international business whilst allowing you to choose the direction of your studies through the option choices.

The Research Methods and Techniques module provides you with comprehensive training in research skills. You will then have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of field research through the Dissertation module, an extended piece of research which allows you to consolidate your studies by pursuing an area of interest in depth.

Teaching and Assessment

The teaching on this programme not only encourages you to develop knowledge of the area, but it also allows you to learn skills in critical thinking and analysis. We use a wide range of teaching styles, from formal lectures to practical experience. Extensive use is made of case studies and current affairs. Modules have different teaching and assessment strategies: in some, you will undertake individual work, in others you will work in groups.

Career Opportunities

The course will prepare you for a career in international business management and will facilitate the career development of students who are already in this position. You will be able to go into a range of jobs including sales, consultancy and marketing. Our graduates have been employed in the banking sector, exporting management roles and risk management. This course is also a suitable preparation for further research.

Entry Requirements

You will need a good first degree in an area of business, management, marketing, accountancy or economics. If you have appropriate professional qualifications or work experience you will be considered on an individual basis.
