Master - Information Technology
(School of Engineering)
Wireless communications, cellular TV phone technology, satellite technology, robotics, network technology: these are modern applications of information technology. Are you interested? Then get ready to learn how to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information.
To prepare you for your future, we designed the program “Information Technology”. You will focus on the implementation, support and management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware but also on Antenna design for mobile and satellite applications.
Your benefits at a glance:
- Employment opportunities
Software and engineer in the fields of wireless communications, cellular TV phone technology, satellite technology, robotics and network technology – no matter what your choice is, you will be prepared for a wide range of senior employment opportunities in the information technology industry.
- Focus on practical use
With a large degree of hands-on practical work this is a chance to test yourself on real-world technology projects: Get in touch with the navigation of robotics in cooperation with Daimler Benz or take part in the conception and launch of our own satellite “HeidelSat”.
- Small group work
Just 20 students per semester will have the chance to join our program. Be one of them!
The focus subjects of this degree program are within the fields of:
- Wireless communications.
- Cellular TV phone technology.
- Satellite technology (we are building our own satellite according to the CubeSat standard, and plan to launch it in 2012).
- Robotics (especially in navigation).
- Network technology.
The master degree program Information Technology is a full-time study and bears three semesters (18 months). The students learn in small working groups. The transfer of theoretical knowledge is accomplished within practice-oriented projects. The study is carried out in a highly independent manner and organized by yourself. The close contact with professors and lecturers makes it possible to settle questions contemporarily.
Based on the main focus on implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware we encourage you to take part and to introduce your knowledge in our current projects.

After completion of the master course of studies, you can accompany responsible tasks in the area of the technical development and system implementation. You acquire the abilities at the same time to manage systems, however, too. Due to your qualifications main emphasized on microsystems, high frequency, and optical communication technology as well as circuits and robotics, you have various possibilities in setting the focus for a personal career in a developing business.
You round off your flexible technical image by good linguistic proficiency. You are able to carry out technical projects in an international context in a globalized working world.
