In a context marked by resource depletion, global environmental change, growing public awareness concerning environmental issues, the Graduate Degree in Ecotechnologies for Sustainability and Environment Management (ECOSEM) aims to foster real-world technical expertise from resource diagnostic and innovative depollution engineering to integrative strategies for remediation and valorization.
In Ecole Polytechnique’s long tradition of multidisciplinary education, this professionally oriented program provides in-depth understanding of the scientific, industrial and societal contexts of sustainability and environment management. Developed in collaboration with internationally renowned scientists and experts from industrial research centers and academic teams, it has been designed to answer the demands of a wide variety of activity sectors including industry from start-ups to the world’s leading groups and governmental agencies.
This pluri-disciplinary graduate degree covers areas as various as hydrogeology, ecotoxicology, microbiology, analytical chemistry, green chemistry, treatment of contaminated water and soils, waste valorization, product lifecycle, big data exploitation, project management, mass media communication, etc. It is intended for students having a solid general scientific background and who are strongly interested in environmental issues.
Ecole Polytechnique’s full-time graduate degree programs are industry oriented and combine state-of-the-art multidisciplinary education and in-depth scientific knowledge. These two-year programs, taught entirely in English, are designed for highly-qualified undergraduates with a strong quantitative background in Science, Engineering and Economics depending on the programme.

Ecole Polytechnique’s Research Center includes 22 world-class scientific departments in 8 major fields addressing today’s most pressing social and technological challenges through interdisciplinary and cross-functional projects. The ECOSEM 2-year program combines management experience with first-class engineering and scientific training, aiming at producing project managers and team leaders who are able to face environmental challenges from innovative sustainable development to emergency management.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES
Applicants must hold or expect to hold an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or Geology prior to the beginning of the program. In order to submit an application, applicants must also supply the following:
- Copies of degrees and transcripts of all previous higher education
- 2 academic references, at least 1 from your current institution
- Personal statement & CV or resume
- A minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 90 (please consult our website for information about exemptions)
- GRE scores are not required but will be considered if provided.
No paper copies are needed for the admission process.
Applications are reviewed in rounds, 3 times a year.
