Program Description

In an era of high stakes accountability and rising expectations, the CCL's Education Sector (ES) group brings a leadership development resource to contemporary educators to assist them with the tough but critical job of reforming and restructuring schools and school districts. Strengthening the leadership capability of those responsible for K-12 public and private schools, colleges, and universities so that educational reforms for excellence can occur is its unique and important mission.

Producing Breakthrough Results in Education

One example of the breakthrough results our programs produce is found in the experiences of the South Carolina Department of Education. Personnel statistics showed nearly half of the state's principals would be eligible to retire within five years, creating an unprecedented demand for new school leaders.

CCL's Education and Nonprofit Sector worked with executives in the Department of Education to find a powerful way to bridge the gap. As partners, we developed a rigorous, two-year leadership institute to train upcoming, high-potential talent.

Participants report major improvements in their leadership ability and in the performance of their schools. They are becoming adept at delegating, dealing with difficult relationships, coaching teachers and working collaboratively. They also cite improved teacher retention rates, stronger parent satisfaction and higher student scores on statewide tests.

Delivering a Program

Initial inquiry about a program leads to introductory conversations between the client and ES staff followed by a leadership needs assessment process that focuses on the specific leadership challenges of the client. Next, a proposal is prepared to outline assessed need and the CCL 's recommended programmatic response.

Once program content decisions are made, staff members discuss whether the program would best be held at one of the CCL's training sites or at the client's locale. Many ES clients find it more cost-effective to bring CCL staff to their site rather than transport all participants to a CCL site.

Get Started with CCL

CCL recognizes the special financial challenges facing educational organizations and offers them discounted program rates. Program costs vary with content and design; our goal is to create high-quality programs that are affordable.
