Program Description

Do you want to create, manage and lead problem solving and the systematic development of new ideas? On the Design Management programme, you’ll learn to adopt a management and design perspective and, through ‘design thinking’ make innovation happen.


Contents of the Design Management (M.A.) programme

During this programme, you will learn to develop creative ideas, lead project teams to implement them and deliver innovative solutions that are intuitive and user-friendly. You develop the ability to work scientifically and apply proven methods to solve problems and design new solutions. Areas of this specialisation include:

  • Theories of management and management
  • Ethics and corporate values
  • Media Management and Law
  • Design theory
  • Project management and project controlling
  • Design methods, models and theories
  • Linear models and interactive design
  • Leadership and self-management
  • User Experience Design and Design Systems

Degree awarded

Students on this M.A. programme are awarded the following master's degree:

  • Master of Arts in Design with specialisation in Design Management

With an M.A. degree that specialises in Design Management, you are qualified for numerous opportunities and potential employers are companies and agencies in design-oriented areas such as advertising, fashion, publishing, media or architecture. Examples of interesting professional roles are:

  • Design manager

Admission requirements

Admission requirements are as follows:

  • Recognised Bachelor's degree
  • English language proficiency certificate
    - TOEFL (at least 72 out of 120)
    - IELTS (at least 6 out of 9)
  • CV (curriculum vitae)
  • Motivation statement
  • Letter of recommendation (by your lecturer or employer)
  • Personal interview (optional)

Applicants with a bachelor's degree of 180 ECTS study a four-semester programme, while applicants with 210 ECTS may join the three-semester programme.

  • 500 € (EU students)
  • 750 € (Non EU students)
