This graduate programme trains professionals in dealing with numerous linguistic, literary and socio-cultural topics, in a comparative and multicultural way. Graduates are equipped with specific linguistic skills in the field of interpretation and (specialist and literary) translation and are able to use IT and multimedia technologies and tools. The courses are taught in the specialisation language as well as in English.
The courses include Italian-Chinese and Chinese-English consecutive interpretation, Chinese and Cantonese for Business, Chinese Translation for Mass Media and computer-assisted translation tools.

Learning outcomes

The ITES Master’s Degree programme aims to shape professionals endowed with specific linguistic skills in the field of interpreting and translation, whether specialised or literary, enabling them to use informatic techniques and tools for assisted translation. The study language is standard chinese, with combinations of chinese-english and chinese-italian; furthermore understanding of Cantonese at an elementary level is required.

Occupational profiles

Second-cycle graduates may be employed as

  • professional interpreters
  • translators (on a freelance basis or for translation agencies), officials in international companies and organizations.

They may be also hired in the following sectors:

  • cross-linguistic communication,
  • editing,
  • multimedia.
