Overview

The Master of Science in Computer Science program is designed for students who have completed their undergraduate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems or similar program and who seek to enhance their theoretical, analytical and practical skills through a solid foundation in computing, information, and systems. Achieving an M.S. degree in Computer Science provides career opportunities in a computer, financial, healthcare, media/telecom, defense, entertainment, retail, real estate, education, government, and non-profit industries/entities. The 36-credit program is offered at New Rochelle and Bronx Campuses and the Queens Extension Center.

Graduates will be qualified for employment as a technology manager, application developer, security specialist, database administrator, web developer, software engineer and systems analyst in private, government and non-profit sectors.

According to The New York State Department of Labor, there were 185,000 online job ads for Information Technology workers in April 2014, compared to 138,000 last year. The IT Job Postings in New York State have increased by 74% since April 2010, and the state ranks first in year-over-year percentage change.

Foundation Courses

New students may be required to take additional foundation courses that were not completed during their undergraduate studies in computer science. These Foundation classes are offered either online or on campus. The campus classes are offered during a weekend, either before the semester begins or early in the semester. Your admissions counselor will advise you as to which classes you may be required to take. There is a separate tuition for Foundation classes.
