The Master of Business Information (MIE) is presented as an innovative training in Information Science in Portugal, forming graduates able to perform duties of information managers in a business context.
In the current context, the MIE responds to the challenge of promoting entrepreneurship and innovation capacities, forming graduates with a syncretic profile of various disciplines, able to recognize the information as an essential strategic value to the management of business organizations. These graduates will be able to promote the optimization of processes associated with the creation and use of information, supporting the company's performance.
The course continues the Graduate Diploma in Business Information (PGIE) which ran in 2010-2011 and in 2011-2012.
Considering the information as a transversal element in any organization, the Master of Business Information is of interest to students and diverse fields of professionals.
Thus, it intended to current or future professionals in the fields of Information Science, Organizational Communication, Management, Management Information, Marketing and Human Resources, among others.
Applicants are admitted carriers licensed degree or bachelor's any scientific area.
They are also encouraged to apply for the interested non degree holders but having relevant curriculum and / or professional experience in the field of business information.
The MIE organizes regularly seminars with national and international guests and contacts with professionals.
The MIE, through its coordination, has been associated with the organization of workshops Graduate Diploma in Information Science, streamlined within the Working Group on Information Science, the SOPCOM.
The MIE of the graduates will be able to perform functions related to the management of information in a business environment, including small and medium-sized enterprises or big business.
May perform functions relating to the definition and implementation of strategies for research, treatment and distribution of information, the organic and functional analysis, rationalization of organizational procedures or the design of an information system capable of meeting the global needs of the organization.
Entrepreneurship in the field of development of information products and services is another career opportunities promoted in MIE.
The MIE provides professional skills for the exercise level 4 functions corresponding to the profile of the Information and Documentation Expert, as stipulated in Euroguide ID (2005).
The course takes place in ISCAP facilities, after working hours, about 15 hours a week. The material support and consultation will be distributed in class, whenever possible, made available on the web pages of the course units of the course.
