The master’s degree in Biotechnologies for Sustainable Development and the Environment prepares professionals responsible for the design, planning, development, management, and control of systems, processes, and the supply of services for environmental protection and the implementation of the use of renewable energy.

You will acquire skills that will enable you to work in the sector of industrial biotechnology in relation to the promotion of renewable resources and energy and within the field of planning and developing innovative solutions applied to industrial biotechnological processes. There are employment prospects for graduates in both Italy and abroad.

The program involves a multidisciplinary training program with a practical approach, combining disciplines such as industrial, mechanical, and energy engineering, analytical chemistry, applied microbiology, the assessment of risks and environmental impacts, environmental law, and the economy of multi-utilities.



  • Graduates can become researchers and specialists in laboratories and public and private research and development institutions, in the chemical and biotechnology industry for biomass processing, in multi-utility companies involved with industrial and environmental biotechnologies, or as secondary school science teachers.
  • Graduates with a master’s degree in Environmental Technologies for the Circular Economy typically find work in fields relating to the innovation and development of products and processes and the evaluation and management of complex systems, as both freelance professionals and working for service providers and public authorities.

Admission onto this Master’s Degree program requires:

  • specific curricula requirements, matured with the obtainment of a definite number of credits in certain disciplinary fields;
  • an adequate personal preparation;
  • understanding of english language at level B2;

The regional government also offers financial aid for international students from low-income families for which you can apply after enrolment.
