As one of the largest business schools in the country, the Broad College is home to more than 7,400 students, including approximately 6,400 undergraduates and 1,000 graduate and doctoral students. Our undergraduate students choose from seven majors offered by five academic departments. In addition to our top ranked Full-Time MBA and Weekend MBA programs, the college also offers six professional master’s programs and several doctoral programs. The highly regarded The School of Hospitality Business, an independent, industry-specific program within the Broad College, also offers undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Accredited by AACSB International, the Broad College is consistently ranked among the top business schools in the country. Our undergraduate and graduate supply chain management programs are currently ranked #1 and #2, respectively, by U.S. News & World Report. M.S. in Business Analytics

The curriculum for the Master in Business Analytics (MS) includes courses in business strategy, data mining, applied statistics, project management, marketing technologies, communications and ethics taught by leading MSU faculty. Expanding Business Intelligence through Business Analytics In the Master in Business Analytics (MS) program, you will: Take classes with leading Michigan State faculty in business, computer science and mathematics from the Broad College of Business, College of Engineering and College of Natural Science Experience working on live data analysis projects and real-world problem solving Expand your business intelligence and link your expertise to a growing industry The program is designed to be completed in one calendar year from January to December. Graduates of the MS in Business Analytics will take their knowledge of business intelligence to careers in business, non-profit, science, engineering management, healthcare, finance and government. Course Descriptions Business Analytics: Building Business Intelligence in a Data-Driven World The MS in Business Analytics offers courses in three core areas: Business data management process and business analytic approaches Experiential project management using live data sets for analysis and application Data management, including: data mining, marketing technology, applied statistics how to interpret and communicate data analysis the ethical and intellectual property issues related to data analytics Admission Requirements Admission to the MS in Business Analytics is based on academic and professional background, as well as potential for a successful career in analytics. Each applicant is evaluated on the basis of these criteria and in relation to the current applicant group. Academic background in engineering, computer science, mathematics, economics, science and business are recommended for those interested in the MS in Business Analytics program. The application deadline is November 1. All applications must be complete by this date in order to be considered for admission to the program for the upcoming spring term. Applications for Spring 2015 will be accepted starting February 1, 2014. Note that admission is selective and there is ongoing review of applications. Applicants should consider applying as early as possible for best advantage. To be considered for the admission in MS in Business Analytics, applicants are expected to have: A completed bachelor’s degree from a recognized educational institution. A cumulative grade-point average of at least a 3.00 in undergraduate course work. Completed, with a grade of 3.0 or higher, college-level courses in introductory calculus and statistics. Completed the suggested prerequisites listed in the course offerings. A working knowledge of personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, networking and data-base management systems. Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Java, HTML, as well as experience in using statistical packages, and use of statistical software programs. Have strong scores on the GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test). The MS in Business Analytics GMAT code is QHO-5P-59. The GRE (Graduate Record Exam, university code 1465) may be accepted as an alternate to the GMAT. Please check with the program office. Waivers are not granted on GMAT/GRE requirement. A relatively recent laptop computer with Microsoft Office. International Applicants There are specific requirements for international applicants with regard to academic transcripts, English language requirements and financial certification for application to the MS in Business Analytics program. The undergraduate degree must be the equivalent to a four-year degree in the United States. English competency test are required with the following minimum scores: TOEFL: 250 on computer version and 100 on the Internet- Based Test: IELTS 7, PTE 7. English competency test takes should use the Michigan State University code 1465. Waivers may ONLY be considered for students that have graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelors degree. Affidavit of Support and Bank Statement: In order to obtain the documents needed to file for a student visa (I-20 or DS-2019), students must show adequate proof of financial support. All international students must provide a signed affidavit of support and bank statement with the name of the account holder in English.
