Winchester School of Art are proud to be one of the UK’s leading art and design institutions and part of the world-renowned University of Southampton, located in the Faculty of Art, Business and Law. A long and distinguished history dating back over 150 years, combined with ahighly-contemporary and global outlook, ensures that our students are ready to meet the challenges of the creative future.

Our student body reflects our international spirit, with over 500 international students from over 30 countries studying here. The majority of our postgraduate students come from outside the UK, so there is a more international peer group here than at almost any other top university in the world. Winchester School of Art offers a unique and broad range of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including Fashion Management/Marketing, Games Design & Art, Graphic Arts, Luxury Brand Management, Advertising Design Management and Global Media Management.

Excellent equipment and first class facilities are another feature of Winchester School of Art, including dedicated studio space for students of fine art, graphic arts/design, fashion and textiles. We also have professional creative management suites and presentation areas supported with extensive resources, including digital-printing facilities, professionally-equipped photographic studios, screen printing facilities, a variety of specialist computer suites, Apple-authorised video-editing centre, laser cutting 3D printing/proto typing and networked data storage for all students.

Winchester School of Art has its very own Department of International Studies, which brings together the School's wide range of international and business/enterprise related activities. These include international collaborations and partnerships, student/staff exchange programmes, overseas research, Summer School and industry placements. In addition to this, the Department is home to the International Student Society (ISS),responsible for ensuring that our international students have an enjoyable time outside of their studies too. The ISSorganizes a number of events and trips to suit every interest and is highly rated by all its members.

This MA equips future games design and art professionals with the knowledge and skills to lead forthcoming games developments and start new games businesses on behalf of the games development and related industries, its management and production processes.The MA aims to prepare graduates for work in fields and practices, including games art, games design and the creative industries more broadly.

MA Global Media ManagementStarting in October 2013, the MA in Global Media Management at Winchester School of Art (WSAgmm) is designed to bring together the analytical and practical skills required to succeed in communications and media management roles in international public communications.This MA pathway explores the possibilities and challenges thrown up by global media organisations, global public institutions and global networks. With governments, NGOs and social enterprises having to work work globally and looking to use network technologies and services as a way of delivering information, building relationships and delivering services, there is a demand for analytical and practical skills. A communications director in an NGO may have to understand the workings of the EU, IMF and UNESCO at the same time as being conversant with social media and crowd-sourcing. The MA in Global Media Management equips you to deal with these different facets of the role of global media manager.You will critically analyse perspectives on globalisation, global governance and global civil society as well as the changing nature of the media and technological landscape.
