With the ever increasing role of Globalization in today’s society, Silpakorn University established the International College in 2003 to offer high quality programs conducted in English.
Growth of SUIC
The faculty started with just 30 students, on a Bachelor of Business Administration Double Degree in Hotel Management with the Vatel Group from France. In 2004 a Double Degree with Birmingham City University, UK was introduced in Digital Communication Design, along with an MBA Double Degree in Hotel and Tourism Management through Vatel. In 2009 an MBA in International Business was launched which also includes a work study tour to Sydney, Australia, organized by the University of Technology, Sydney.
By 2010 the international faculty had grown in popularity and numbers of students had risen to over 500. As part of this growth SUIC increased its capacity by expanding into new and bigger facilities. First of all SUIC took extra space in the Office of the President building in Talingchan, Bangkok in order to meet this growing demand. A new restaurant was also established near the campus for the Hotel Management program, whilst the Digital Communication Design department was relocated to a brand new state of the art facility in the CAT Telecom building, Charoen Krung Road, Si Phraya, Bangrak, Bangkok.
Industry has recognized the quality and strength of SUIC students whilst also appreciating the effective nature of the curriculums and delivery. It is therefore the aim of the college to continue delivering professional programs and expand these in the near future. It is also SUIC’s goal to work more closely with schools, government agencies and industry by providing various training services.
