The purpose of the Marketing and Management programme is to give students advanced knowledge in areas suitable for qualified positions in marketing, sales, or communication departments in firms and organisations.

The programme focuses on firms and other organisations and their relationships to customers and suppliers. Leadership, communication, consumer behaviour and marketing in networks are central themes during the first semester. The second semester begins with two courses on methodology. The programme ends with a written master thesis in the area of marketing and management.

Master in Ecotechnology & Sustainable Development

The programme provides you with a deeper knowledge about natural resource management from a systemic perspective. Focus is on moving society towards a sustainable development.

In order to be successful when working with sustainable development, you must possess adequate knowledge and skills. The International Master’s Programme in Ecotechnology and Sustainable Development will provide you with knowledge related to environmental and natural resource questions from a sustainability point of view and from global, regional and local levels. These broad issues, which vary in relation to time, place, complexity and connectedness, are approached in an interdisciplinary and systemic way. The programme includes courses in both Environmental Science and Environmental Technology. Environmental Science focuses on knowledge about how natural resources and the environment form preconditions to create sustainable societal functions. Environmental Technology, on the other hand, focuses on the technology and technical systems from a sustainability perspective. This programme aims to develop your analytical and systemic thinking and thus to provide you with the ability to tackle complex problems. It will also provide you with an understanding of efficient natural resource usage. It also considers how knowledge referring to different systems and innovations, together with knowledge about societal control systems, can contribute towards sustainable development. You will learn how to handle advanced methodologies to identify and describe problems in order to arrive at reasonable solutions. Master in Electronics Design

This programme focuses on embedded electronic systems with sensors. Electronics systems are increasingly common and can be found in a wide range of products on the market, among other things in cars, refrigerators, keys and packaging. During the programme you will broaden your knowledge of different design technologies used to create embedded sensor systems. The programme is continuously updated with the latest development in the field, in collaboration with researchers and industrial partners.

Most products today have embedded electronics, regardless of whether or not they have previously been associated with electronics. For example, you will be able to find electronics in cars, refrigerators, keys and packaging. In many instances these embedded systems also have sensory functions which range from simple temperature sensors to complicated sensors based on video technology. 

The programme will give you a wide range of knowledge of different technologies which serve as the basis in designing embedded sensor systems. During the second year you will specialise and acquire a deepened knowledge in a specific area through individual projects. 

Because the programme is open for applicants from all over the world, you will have the opportunity to develop international contacts. The programme is entirely in English and will give you increased skills in communicating in international projects....

Master in Packaging Design and Communication

We offer you a Master´s Programme in Graphic Design and Communication with a special focus on Packaging Design.

During the programme, you will develop your individual design skills through rather theoretical courses mixed with design and packaging projects. Project work will be linked to real and fictive customers in international collaboration projects, such as universities in Japan, China and South Korea. 
The education will emphasize how history, environment and society influence the graphic design of packaging. The Master´s Programme works closely with the Mid Sweden University strategic research areas, such as research on the paper and packaging of tomorrow. In the last part of the programme, you will work on larger design projects, where you will explore the communicative role of packaging in close cooperation with working life....

Master in Photojournalism

The Master of Arts (MA) in Photojournalism programme provides you with the conceptual and advanced skills essential for a successful career in photojournalism and picture editing as well as the foundation to succeed in leadership roles in the profession.

The courses address photojournalism in practice and theory on an advanced level. Courses cover theory, history, and legal and ethical issues of relevance to the profession, deepening the knowledge of visual communication as a language as well as critical debates about photojournalism. Furthermore, courses on photographic techniques, design, picture editing and picture research, advanced level photojournalism/documentary project courses, as well as advanced narrative writing for photojournalists provide the tools for the further pursuit of a career in the field. The Master's seminar, where you present work in progress, bring everything together in a forum for discussion of issues relevant to the profession, and for your educational experience and creative work....

Master in Political Sciences (one year)

The programme is for you who want a Master's degree in political science.

The program provides you with in-depth knowledge in political science. The program gives you the knowledge and skills for a working life of change and it provides the ability to apply knowledge in an independent scientific work. You learn to independently analyze complex political issues. Master in Tourism

The Master in Tourism program concentrates on sustainability issues, destination develop¬ment, management of natural and cultural resource, and the challenges of tourism in an “experience” society. Students in the tourism program can also study abroad at one of Mid Sweden University’s many partner institutions. The Masters’ program concludes with an independent thesis. The program prepares you for research studies and gives you access to qualified tourism jobs all over the world.
