About Us

The National School of Business Management (NSBM) is the degree school of National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) and offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in Management, Computing and Engineering. Innovation is the key at NSBM as we understand the importance of originality and creativity in this global world. The education system at NSBM is therefore designed with the intention of ensuring that all our undergraduates are fully prepared to face any challenges the world has to offer.

NSBM & NIBM

National School of Business Management (NSBM) is established as the degree awarding school of NIBM offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in the fields of Business, Computing and Engineering. Recognizing the trends in technology and globalization, NIBM launched NSBM as an alternative system of higher education to breed a generation of knowledge based employees.

Taking higher education to its next level , NSBM is inspired to transform Sri Lanka to a 'Knowledge Hub' as declared in 'Mahinda Chinthana' with its "Green University Town". Constructing the first ever Green University Town of its own kind in the South Asia, NSBM is proud to enhance the levels and the quality of education offered in the country. Fully equipped gymnasia, state of the art class rooms, student accommodations, shopping complexes, banking facilities, open theaters, library areas & free study areas will be a few of the facilities that are going to get underway with the NSBM Green University Town in future.

Establish in 1968, the NIBM has experience over four decades in the industry. Today it functions under the purview of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development. NIBM undoubtedly has given an impetus to the nation through its progressive march towards development. The institute is well equipped with modern teaching aids and a conducive learning environment for students to acquire knowledge without any disturbance. Academic Structure

NSBM has exclusive partnership agreements with three of the world’s leading universities - the University College of Dublin, Ireland, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Malaysia and the University of Plymouth, UK. A unique factor that distinguishes NSBM from other foreign universities operating in Sri Lanka is that over 50% of the lectures for the courses offered by these universities is conducted by foreign faculty members in Sri Lanka. This figure rises to over 90% in respect of post-graduate studies.

Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management Offered by National School of Business Management Duration: 1 Years Commencement: 12th of Jul 2015 Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) is a one-year course designed specifically to provide a systematic exposition in advanced management education to managerial and supervisory level executives in private and public sectors, who wish to pursue higher studies with relevant managerial experience and graduates who wish to upgrade their academic knowledge gained during the first degree. Objectives: The primary aim of this course is to inculcate among the participants such perceptions, knowledge, skills and abilities as would enable them to become effective managers in the modern business - and to assume higher levels of managerial responsibilities. Therefore the structure of this course facilitates a process through which the participants integrate their real- life work experiences with the conceptual and analytical foundations and developments in management disciplines, rather than just knowledge reproduction. The learning is problem oriented and participants have to work on specific problems themselves. Furthermore, the program encourages multidisciplinary thinking and independent reflection. Postgraduate Diploma In Computer Networks Offered by National School of Business Management Duration: 1 Years and 3 Months Commencement: 12th of Jul 2015 NSBM’s concern for conducting this programme in Computer Network emerged from the appreciation of a responsibility to offer a state of the art technical education to the industry practitioners. This also needs to be seen as the critical and continuing effort by NIBM (National Institute of Business Management) to qualify the computer network professionals within organizations, one of the major agenda of our time. Objectives: This course facilitate to fill the increasing demand in current industry to pursue postgraduate level qualifications. This programme examines principles, design, implementation, and performance or computer networks. A focus will be placed on wireless networking, reflecting rapid advances in this area. Topics includes: Internet protocols and routing, local area networks, wireless communications and networking, performance analysis, congestion control, TCP, network address translation, multimedia over IP, switching and routing, mobile IP, peer-to-peer networking, network security, and other current research topics. Students may formulate their own final projects based on their interests and background. The course will be conducted in a more seminar-like manner than lectures, but will have a more formal schedule. Main objectives of the Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Networks are to provide an opportunity for graduates and practitioners with relevant working experience to grain postgraduate qualifications in Computer Networks, to provide a wide—ranging introduction to modern computer networks and their applications and to use internet as a vehicle for presenting the different protocols in a practical setting.
