American University of Integrative Sciences St Maarten School of Medicine

The American University of Integrative Sciences, St. Maarten School of Medicine, (AUIS) has trained and educated quality physicians since its inception in 1999. AUIS is located on the beautiful island of St. Maarten in the Dutch Caribbean. AUIS has partnered with a US university to offer our new curriculum which features an exceptional internationally-recognized education in traditional Allopathic medicine combined with a subcurriculum in Integrative Medicine. Students have the opportunity to graduate with both an MD and an MS in Integrative Medicine. AUIS is poised to graduate physicians best suited for the 21st century.

Our Integrative medicine focus educates our graduates in scientifically proven alternative medicine modalities, including AyurVeda, to prevent disease before it occurs. AUIS is diverse and enrolls students from the United States, Canada, and around the world. Our professors are both skilled doctors, researchers, and experienced instructors. AUIS also prides itself with an exemplary clinical program that has clinical clerkship sites available in more than 20 states and over 60 hospitals in the US, Canada, and globally. Many students transfer to AUIS to have the opportunities afforded to them by the Clinical Department.

The mission of the American University of Integrative Sciences, St. Maarten School of Medicine is to develop world-class medical doctors who have a solid education in allopathic medicine with an understanding of complementary and alternative approaches that focus on healing and preventive care instead of only reactive/palliative patient care. The first 4.5 semesters are taught on St. Maarten. Half of 5th semester is taught in Atlanta GA. Clinical clerkships are offered at over 60 affiliations in 20+ states. Clinical Residencies are in the US, Canada, and globally. AUIS emphasizes community service and students are involved in student organizations such as SGA and AMSA which volunteers in health events for local citizens and the local hospital. Students participate in organizations such as SGA and AMSA.

The Mentor/Mentee Program pairs new students with current student-volunteers who provide an immediate educational and social resource from within the AUIS family. AUIS has implemented the ASSIST program to offer additional tutoring, training on study skills, and personalized assistance. The latest in technology is provided in all classrooms and labs.
