Over 15 000 students are enrolled in interdisciplinary degree programs. We offer full-time and extramural undergraduate and graduate programs in Psychology, Modern Languages, Cultural Studies, Journalism and Social Communication, Sociology, Law, Internal Security, International Relations, Management and Design. SWPS is the only private university in Poland that has been granted the right to award post-doctoral degrees in Psychology and Cultural Studies and PhD degrees in Psychology, Sociology, Cultural Studies and Law.

Our offer includes also a wide range of non-degree programs such as weekend trainings and numerous tailor-made training schemes. We organize cycles of scientific and cultural events that are open to the public. Our institution values considerable debates and fruitful discussions, and this is why we often host world-recognized scientists, well-known artists and representatives of the mass media. Those who want to master their language competence are more than welcome to join English Preparatory School and Polish Preparatory School, the programs that give them an opportunity to improve their English and Polish under the supervision of highly qualified teachers.

Our courses are a combination of in-class activities and self-study. Newly acquired portions of knowledge can be practiced via the university's modern e-learning platform.

Master in Psychology (2 Years) Clinical Psychology integrates science, theory, and practice to understand, predict, and reduce maladjustment, disability, and distress as well as to support personal development. Clinical Psychology is a broad approach to human problems consisting of diagnosis, assessment, evaluation, consultation, treatment, prevention and research with regard to various populations (children, adults, families, couples and groups). For Whom? The program is appropriate for students who have obtained undergraduate degrees in Psychology as well as for those who hold their Bachelor's degree in area other than Psychology and with a limited exposure to the field. The latter are obliged to complete two additional compensatory undergraduate psychology modules (i.e. Personality Psychology, Psychology of emotion or Developmental Psychology) tailored to student's specific prior education. Upon admission each students will be informed about particular modules he/she should attend. These modules are free of charge and need to be completed during the first year of the studies. Advantages Clinical Psychology is an unique mixture of clinical and research training program with strong cross-cultural aspects. Studying Clinical Psychology in English brings you up-to date with the latest textbooks and standards in psychological practice. Detailed Program Description The first year of the program provides an intensive theoretical education accompanied by some clinical applications in certain modules. Students are expected to acquire extensive knowledge on child and adult psychopathology and possess basic understanding and skills in psychological help, assessment and clinical research. Students start their MA thesis in the second semester. On the second year, majority of modules are dedicated to gaining knowledge on psychotherapeutic process and developing clinical practical skills. There are also two 90-hour applied modules, which include clinical training. Students finish and defend their MA thesis. Specializations Clinical Psychology program complies with the scientist-practitioner model, emphasizing both clinical and research training. The program is thought to be theoretically integrative as we aim to expose students to a broad spectrum of theoretical and empirical approaches to clinical research and practice. As our faculty strongly adhere to evidence-based practices, the program puts more emphasis on cognitive and behavioral approaches. Program places an emphasis on competencies specified in the European qualification standard for psychologists. What Next? The goal of the program is to provide training in both contemporary clinical science and clinical assessment and intervention as well as to prepare psychologists capable of serving in a wide range of professional contexts by providing evidence-based clinical services that are consistent with ethical and professional standards. As such we are dedicated to broad and general training as the core of our curriculum so that students acquire a broad foundation of clinical and research skills and understand the way in which empirical findings inform their clinical work. Moreover we want our graduates to be ready to work with people coming from diverse cultures and therefore we put much emphasis on developing cross-cultural competence in our students. Psychology graduates have numerous professional opportunities and they can pursue many career paths. Depending on the program selected and after they fulfill all the specific job requirements, they may find employment as: Clinical psychologist and psychotherapists; Social workers and counselors; Behavior analysts (esp. in the area of autism therapy); Neuropsychologists; Educational and academic psychologists; Cross-cultural consultants; life coaches. Internship Opportunities Applied modules are held outside the university in various centers where psychological services are provided. SWPS has its own Therapy Center in which, usually, one of the modules takes place. The other module might be in another placement provided by the University or it can be an individual training, even in a different country (there is a possibility of using Erasmus Placement Program for this type of training). Master in Psychology (5 Years) Psychology is a discipline whose goal is to understand and improve functioning of individuals, groups, and societies as a whole. Students interested in the unitary "long-cycle" 5 year Master program are usually those who want to work as professional psychologists dealing with diagnosis and treatment of mental health issues (Clinical Psychologists) or in the business world, in marketing and advertising or human relations (Work and Organizational Psychologists). For Whom? Students of the unitary "long-cycle" 5 year Master program are willing to pursue their professional career in psychology with the knowledge, that in order to work as a psychologist you often have to gain credentials other than just the Master-level diploma. What is needed are competencies and skills gained during 5 years of study (300 ECTS) and, very often, a supervised training process. Specific requirements vary between countries and regions. For examples please refer to EuroPsy Regulations or Norwegian National Curriculum for Professional Education in Psychology. Students get to know how to conduct measurement, behavioral assessment and behavior change procedures. They develop communication skills, gain knowledge on interpersonal relations and conflict management: negotiations and mediations. Third year involves a continuation of the 4 thematic areas. During years II and III students complete 5 elective modules and 4 foreign language courses as well. Students gain competencies in: bilingualism and multicultural school education, psychology of acculturation and economic migrations, use of eye-tracker and visual communication. They know what is the psychology of leadership and can apply behavioral techniques to various populations and problems. During your studies you will be provided with basic applied training, but many professional authorities in the field of psychotherapy require at least a year-long supervised practice after the standard 5-year curriculum. Students interested in pursuing a career in science should consider collaborating on research projects on their last years of the Master-level program and sign up for a PhD program just after graduation.
