Our Purpose

The Waikato Management School's purpose is 'to inspire the world with fresh understandings of sustainable success'. It has set itself the challenge of achieving global recognition as a leading school for sustainable business within three to five years. The School's strategy has three pillars which provide a path for achieving this challenge: distinction, excellence and experience.

Introduction

Waikato Management School introduced New Zealand's first four year business degree, in line with North American benchmarks of management education excellence, when it opened in 1972. The Bachelor of Management Studies degree remains highly sought after by employers. Waikato Management School was also the first New Zealand business school to respond to the opportunities of electronic commerce with a specialist e-commerce degree.

Waikato Management School offers qualifications at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Our programmes are renowned for their practical focus, relevance to the real world and their foundation in leading-edge business research.

Waikato Management School's close relationship with its business community encompasses education, research and advisory services. Our scholars consult to major companies and sit alongside senior executives on advisory boards and government taskforces. The Centre for Corporate and Executive Education offers a range of highly regarded executive and corporate development programmes, including courses specially tailored for our corporate partners. We are committed to ensuring all students receive a research-led, practice-relevant education. The skills and curiosity of our students are developed through an education philosophy that promotes the ability to think independently and work collaboratively. Because our faculty are active researchers, students are exposed to freshideas, emerging theory and realworld, real-time business cases.
