Fontys is a leading European University of Applied Sciences. It has 29 institutes throughout the country offering international programmes in English, Dutch, and a mix of German, Dutch and English called the Euregional stream. The university has several campuses in the South-East of the Netherlands near the border with Germany and Belgium, one of the most dynamic regions in Europe. With more than 100 study programmes, 4.000 employees and over 40.000 students, Fontys is one of the major Dutch universities of applied sciences and one of the largest educational institutions in the Netherlands. Fontys International Campus Venlo
The three largest Fontys campuses are located in the cities of Eindhoven, Tilburg and Venlo. Right at the border to Germany, Fontys has established the International Campus Venlo which has built up experience and reputation on an international scope over the past years. In addition to the Dutch study programmes, the International Campus Venlo offers international bachelor and master programmes taught in English and a mix of German, Dutch and English in the Euregional stream. Currently, Fontys International Campus Venlo is home to over 4.000 students of whom 70 percent are from abroad and come from over 40 different countries (the majority being from Germany).
External connections and partnerships
Fontys International Campus Venlo has a large network of both educational institutions and companies. Fontys cooperates with over 100 partner universities in almost 50 countries all over the world. Due to these partnerships Fontys students can go to any of these universities for a semester abroad. It also means that students from all over the world visit Fontys for a semester in Venlo, which results in an international atmosphere at the campus. Besides the partner universities, Fontys also cooperates with the largest companies worldwide. As a result Fontys students are working as interns globally at companies such as T-Mobile, Unilever, BMW, Philips, and Shell. These companies also provide cases which are used in the curriculum, enhancing the practical orientation of the study programmes.
Fontys University of Applied Sciences invests in joint research programmes with industry, business and public services, to disseminate applied research results. Fontys encourages its graduates to develop international competences by means of international exchanges and internships via partnerships with hundreds of universities and companies all over the world. Fontys therefore maintains close relationships with industry, business and public services. Fontys offers students the invaluable experience of a long-term internship, and keeps its education up to date by closely monitoring developments in the labour market. The student population from various foreign countries at the Fontys campuses adds to the learning and social experience, with an opportunity to study and interact with students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
