Introduction

Free International University of Moldova(ULIM) is situated in the center of the capital of the Republic of Moldova – Chisinau city. Conceived as an alternative university, Free International University of Moldova is a self-financed and self administrated institution. It was founded on 16 October 1992 by government decision and is accredited by the National Council for Academic Assessment and Accreditation of the Republic of Moldova. ULIM is a medium-size international university with about 9000 students, including foreign ones, coming from various countries like: USA, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Romania, Russia, Middle East countries etc. Free International University of Moldova is a leading academic center and a significant point of reference in society, and it adheres to the principles of European Higher Education Area and signed Magna Charta Universitatum.

ULIM offers academic programmes at all levels including: Bachelor, Master, Doctoral, Postdoctoral and continuous training from which: 81 at 1st cycle, 100 at 2nd cycle, 50 at 3rd cycle (most of the programmes being offered in foreign language), and over 15 at continuous training. The academic programmes are organized in 7 faculties as follows: Law, Letters, Economic sciences, Biomedicine and Ecology, Informatics and Engineering, History and International Relations, Psychology and Social Work. Master in Chemical Technology and Biotechnology The necessity of training professionals at the Faculty of Biomedicine and Ecology of ULIM within the program Industrial Drug’s Technology, Master degree is determined by the deficiency of specialists in this field. The training is performed according to the Bologna process principles. Development of formulations of industrial pharmaceutical forms and their application in pharmaceutical practice needs initiative and responsibility. It is necessary to train masters with their striving to self improvement. A special attention should be given to the subjects, which envisage the study of the technology of medicaments production, their thorough qualitative and quantitative control, compatibility and incompatibility of ingredients in pharmaceutical forms, control of stability, storage conditions, efficiency and elaboration of normative technical documentation and other standards, which define the highest quality of the end product. The program of studies represents an individual form of professional training with full-time attendance during 2 years for the graduates of the Licentiate cycles for the specialties 551.3 Pharmaceutical Technology and 551.2 Technology of Cosmetical and Medicinal Products. For the graduates of other specialties (Chemical Technology, Chemistry, etc.) the period of the Master’s program includes a compensatory semester with the total duration of 2.5 years. Advanced theoretical knowledge and practical experience will be gained through learning of fundamental subjects (Industrial Technology of Drugs, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical and Colloid Chemistry, etc.) and special subjects (Tissue Preparations, Blood Preparations, Technology of Drugs, etc.). In the semester III a practical training course is envisaged during 10 weeks, and in semester IV- implementation and public defense of the Master Thesis, which is evaluated as 30 credits. In general during the 2 years Masters accomplish 18 exams and accumulate 120 credits. At the end of the course the graduates obtain the title of Master in Chemical Technology and Biotechnology. Aim and mission of the training program: To make more profound the level of fundamental professional training – both theoretical and applied – by mastering special courses related to the respective field of the professional activity. Master in International institutional law The Master program "International institutional law" addresses to wide socio-professional categories, namely people who are trained to apply and to interpret the international and EU law. The program is focused on two law branches - international public law and European Union law, being structured so that the skills gained in the first semester could be useful in the study process of the second semester. The program is unique in its content not only in Moldova, but also in the region. In its development, there were taken into account the positioning of a future specialist in relation to the realities and challenges that not only the Republic of Moldova is facing but also the countries in the region. The structure of the Master program provides the opportunity to invite national and international experts, including those delegated by the International Bodies with whom are established partnership agreements, such as UNHCR or ICRC. The I and II Semester of studies of the proposed master program are composed from a complex of fundamental and specialized compulsory disciplines. The II Semester includes an internship (10 ECTS). The study includes the elaboration of a master's thesis, a process planned for the III Semester. The Masters graduates have access to the doctoral cycle to specialty 552.08 - international public Law and European law. The Master's program "International institutional law" has an innovative character, since it reflects the current trends in doctrine and practice of the international and European law, being a prompt argument in promoting the idea of European Integration of Moldova and it is focused on elucidating personal and professional skills in the field. The purpose and mission of the study program The Master program "International institutional law" aims to train professionals able to apply and explain the national legislation based on the provisions of international and EU law. The Program comes to create master skills in promoting the concept of the primacy of the international and EU law in relation to the national law. Referring to European Union law, its rule is dictated by the Republic of Moldova's aspirations of European integration and of the other countries in the region. For an effective awareness of this subject, the matter is studied not only theoretically, but also on the bases of the national practice of other many states. To achieve the proposed goals, it is studied within the practical lessons the jurisprudence of the international bodies such as the UN International Court of Justice, International Criminal Court, International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the European Court of Human Rights, the European Court of Justice, etc. Equally, it is analyzed the practice of various international organizations - the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Organization for Migration. Conditions of admission The Master program "International institutional law" implies both the consecutive access, if it addresses students who have a diploma of licentiate in law, and non - consecutive access, if it addresses to students that have a diploma of licentiate in other general areas of training. The consecutive access will be made on the basis of the diploma of licentiate in law, and non - consecutive access, on the basis of the diploma of licentiate in political science, history, international relations, psychology, economics, pedagogy, public administration and other specialties with human and real profile, whose holders have completed at least 30 ECTS listed in the licence degree plans of studies for the 38 field - law. Herby, the authors propose for the candidates to the master program coming from other fields of professional training, a module of a master program of 30 ECTS, that these candidates will accumulate during a half extra semester, after which they will be able to access to the basic content of the master's program. Master of Social Work (MSW) – Social Expert Program Mission: Training social workers in the Republic of Moldova using a global perspective. Purpose: The MSW / "Social Expert" Program at ULIM shapes professionals in the social work profession who can address complex social problems and respond globally to individual needs. Goals: Training entry-level and experienced social work professionals to practice according to the international standards within multi-cultural global environment on micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Emphasizing global agenda, research, collaborative and experiential learning as aspects of the curriculum. Background: The Master of Social Work Program at ULIM was conceptualized by a consortium of four universities from Moldova and six from the United States. The curriculum was designed specifically for social workers who address needs and problems within the post-Soviet world but with a generalist global applicability. The program has been designed considering the latest pedagogical knowledge and technology combined with experience of an international team of faculty. Launched in 2013, the new program spans two years (four semesters) of basic and advanced graduate-level courses from two concentrations: 1) Social Economic Development, and 2) Disaster, Violence, and Trauma. Students earn the title of “Social Work Expert”, a social worker of the highest ranking who is able to thrive within positions of high responsibility in Moldova and beyond. As an integral part of that training, students conduct internships within established social, governmental, and non-governmental agencies that work within some of the most challenging social environments in the world, addressing poverty, substance abuse, trafficking, pre- and post-Communist values, and much more.
