LCC International University

Introduction

LCC International University is a nationally and internationally recognized liberal arts university based in the city of Klaipėda, Lithuania.

Established in 1991 by a joint venture of Lithuanian, Canadian and American foundations, LCC International University has distinguished itself in the region by offering a different kind of educational experience that better prepares students for success in the 21st century as professionals and global citizens.

Education at LCC International University means being actively engaged in academic work. Students learn from our international faculty, from other students, through practicum, and on their own.

Accreditation

The Republic of Lithuania recognizes LCC International University as a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees granting university. Please see the License of Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania for LCC International University to implement higher education university B.A. and M.A. level studies. LCC is also an associate international member of the North American Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).

Study Programs

Students can choose different Bachelor degree programs of study (International Business Administration; Contemporary Communication; English Language and Literature; Psychology; Theology; Theology/International Business Administration; International Relations and Development) taught by more than 50 instructors coming from Western Europe, North America, and Lithuania. LCC also offers an online M.A. in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Foreign Language) and a dual M.A. in International Management/M.B.A. degree program in cooperation with Taylor University (Indiana, USA).

University Community

Current student enrollment is around 600 (40% from Lithuania, 60% International), who come from more than 27 countries of the world. Each semester around 50 Study Abroad students come to LCC from North American universities and through Erasmus exchange program. One-third of LCC faculty are Lithuanian while two-thirds are from Western Europe, Canada and the United States.

The Master in TESOL program at LCC International University is geared toward a wide audience. It is designed for those who are willing to deepen their knowledge of applied linguistics as well as those who want a thorough knowledge of foreign language teaching methods and their practical application in international contexts. Master’s programs in TESOL are common in many parts of the world, but are new to Lithuania. This international program follows three key principles: theoretical linguistic knowledge, applied scientific research, and the practical use of both theory and research. The core of this program consists of sociolinguistics and linguistics, which are combined with management and language teaching pedagogy.

The M.A. in TESOL program at LCC International University is geared toward a wide audience. In particular, the program is designed for: - High school teachers willing to enrich their professional and methodological competence; - Individuals who have received their Bachelor’s degree and want to pursue a career in English language teaching in an increasingly multilingual world; - Individuals who are interested in language program administration and management; - Individuals who are interested in research in the field of applied linguistics. Distinctive Organizational and Academic Features of the Program - A small group model, guaranteeing an interactive learning environment; - A combination of online and face-to-face interaction with professors and students; - Three summer residency periods on campus in Klaipėda; - A natural setting for practicum work during the Summer Language Institute at LCC; - An individual theoretical and practical portfolio combining personal reflection and research from each course; - Instruction from native or native-like English language-speaking professors.
