BBS (est. in 2000) is the business school of the University of Bologna (est. A.D. 1088). BBS ranks among the most innovative business schools in Europe and is one of the most reputable institutions in Italy. Interdisciplinary outlook, industry integration and internationalization are the key pillars of the school’s philosophy, which aims to provide students with the appropriate skills in order to face an ever changing and complex economic landscape with confidence, knowledge and motivation to succeed.

Bologna Business School's Headquarters is located at Villa Guastavillani, a Renaissance building from the 16th century located on the Bolognese hills, less than ten minutes from the city center. Here history, technology, and tradition live together in beautiful and natural framework. Bologna is a lively city located in the heart of Italy – 30 minutes away from Florence, one hour from Milan, two hours from Rome and Venice – in Emilia-Romagna, one of the richest regions in Europe.

BBS offers a 360° academic and ”real world” educational experience, including full-time master degrees (in English and Italian), and part-time masters and short-term programs for executives and professionals. The Master in Data Science is designed for recent graduates interested in management and data analysis and whom would like to take on a role which is central to any business and its value creation: the Data Scientist, having already become one of the most sought-after experts in the professional world. The data business is becoming a key sector for the European economy, the development of products and services based on data and the analysis of data collected in companies, public entities or that are available on social networks. The aim being to obtain operational indications and to identify new business opportunities. In one word: Big Data, but not exclusively. Companies, in fact, have both a need and an urgency to manage the acquisition, presentation, sharing, analysis and visualization of data. The Data Scientist is defined by the Economist as “the most interesting job of the twenty-first century, combining the skills of an IT technician, statistician and storyteller to extract the golden nuggets hidden under the mountains of data.” The Master in Data Science offers 3 different types of skills: solid computer training, am understanding of the technological aspects and knowledge of business dynamics. This Master creates professionals with across-the-board skills whom are able to relate with the company’s management. The program concludes with a Field Laboratory Work and a company internship. Structure The master in Data Science is a full-time program structured in 1,500 hours of learning activities over 12 months of study, divided into: 360 hours of lecturing, an estimated 540 hours of independent study, and 600 hours of internship. The structure of the Master is divided into three terms: First cycle: December 2016 – April 2017 Second cycle: April 2017 – July 2017 Internship: August 2017 – December 2017 Classroom participation is about 30 hours per week structured in order to allow time to work in groups, while not neglecting individual students focus and management of interpersonal relationships. Learning Method The educational sessions provide different learning methods, including lectures, simulations, discussions of case studies and presentations by companies, testimonials, and group work. Every industry is looking for managers who are able to create, manage and monitor digital sales. The Master in Digital Commerce provides the skills to design the strategy and to perform successfully on any kind of commercial channel, becoming a specialist in Digital Marketing. Main achievements for participants will be: learning to define strategies for success in the online environment developing digital-sales projects knowing and marketing the different types of retail shops and platforms working as a professional in any field of digital marketing including web usability, email marketing, search engine optimization and marketing, web analytics. Thanks to the participation of a group of companies worldwide known as industry leaders, this master is an unprecedented blend of scientific knowledge and international best practices. It imparts a coherent body of managerial and technological knowledge, centering on omnichannel and digital marketing in order to boost young graduates’ careers. The internship is an excellent springboard to the professional world, evidenced by the fact that six months after completing the full-time master at Bologna Business School, an average of 85% of alumni are working in a company. Fees The tuition fees for the Master is 14,800 euros (VAT free) The fee includes participation in the Master, all the study material available through the online platform, and access to the services and facilities of Bologna Business School such as: personal account for the BBS wi-fi, use of the pcs in the Computer Lab, access to the study areas, access to the internal gym, special rates for the School restaurant. Furthermore, the fee gives participants the right to take advantage of the supporting activities of the School, such as the language courses and the master lectures by invitation. Free parking is also available within the ground of the School. Honor Loan Bologna Business School is currently finalizing agreements that will allow participants to access loans at reduced rates in order to cover tuition fees. As an example, agreements of previous years featured: Loan equal to the enrollment fee Possibility for an extra loan for “living costs” Reduced interest rate No collateral Repayable in 12 years Without early amortization fees 3% to be transferred to an ad honorem fund, in order to cover insolvency risks Scholarships At Bologna Business School we understand the importance of financial aid in supporting our students in achieving their educational goals. We are aware that an advanced, high quality training path can be a significant commitment but we also truly believe that investing in one’s future always pays back. Bologna Business School is pleased to offer partial scholarships to the most meriting students. All of these scholarships are merit-based and will be awarded to the top-ranked candidates in the selection process. The students who come out on top in the selections will be students who not only come from strong academic or practical backgrounds but also those who display the strongest motivation to take part in this program. There are scholarships of 6,000 euros each and scholarships of 4,000 euros each. All applicants will be considered for a scholarship – no specific application is required. They are awarded over the course of every round of selection and if you have performed well enough to merit one of them, you will be informed at the moment of admission. The scholarships act as tuition waivers, so that they result in a deduction of the total amount of the tuition fees due. Requirements For the registration it is necessary to have: a Bachelor’s Degree (must be obtained by the enrollment deadline) English language proficiency Admission to the program is subject to the positive assessment of your individual interview and English test, if it’s not the candidate’s native language. Through the expansion of mobile devices every day more and more people around the world connect to social media: Twitter has 230 million users, Google+ has 500 million, YouTube 800 million and Facebook 1.23 billion. What we are witnessing is more than a technological revolution, it is a deep socio-cultural transformation. Companies the world over who are constantly increasing the amount that they invest in their online advertising to improve their relationship with the consumers and the business community. Together with the partner IAB (International Advertising Bureau), this Master’s degree provides students with the qualifications and skills to start a managerial or consultant career in the field of digital communications. A unique atmosphere of a 16th Century Villa in the hills of Bologna you will study Marketing, Communication and New Media: the subject that will shape the 21st Century. During an international course with students from all the world, a Faculty composed by professors, managers and entrepreneurs, thanks to project works, company projects and master lectures students get in touch with the key worlds of the digital era: listen, publish content, share and participate. The Master concludes with an internship at a company. Structure The Master’s degree is a 12-month full-time program including an internship or project work (total length: 1500 working hours). The academic part is divided into two terms. You will cover 1000 hours of study: 400 hours of classroom activities and 600 hours of individual/group work. During the first term you will study the fundamentals of marketing and communication, while the second term will deal with practical aspects and focus on the new media tools you will use in your professional career (you can find more detailed information about the courses you will study in the section ‘Courses’ below). The two terms are followed by an internship period of 500 working hours. This internship can be carried out at various companies and agencies in Italy or abroad. It is your chance to put into practice the theory and techniques learned during the two academic terms by working on marketing and communication strategies/campaigns, analyze and create solutions to real problems and work on action plans. You are expected to make the most of these opportunities by learning from the professionals you will be working with. At the end of the internship you will be required to hand in a ‘Final Report’, which you will present to the Director of Studies showcasing your activities and analyzing the theories and lessons learned during the academic part.
