The University of Eastern Piedmont Amedeo Avogadro (Italian: Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale “Amedeo Avogadro”, UNIPMN or UPO) is a university located in Alessandria, Novara and Vercelli (a region in the North-West of Italy, close to Milan). It was founded in 1998 and is organized in 7 faculties. Before 1998 the seven faculties were part of the University of Turin. One of the goals of University of Piemonte Orientale is to strengthen its integration into the international network through scientific, cultural and educational exchanges. The University is part of the European Higher Education Area which sets curricula, recognition of diplomas, quality assurance, mobility, autonomy and accountability.

The University is one of the youngest in the Country; therefore its facilities are comfortable and modern. There are many services designed to make the quality of students’ lives and studies functional. The computer laboratories have a high number of machines per users, the libraries are well supplied and students can access funds to organise cultural and sporting activities. A strong point is the high ratio of available professors per students and the cozy but modern and competitive atmosphere.
Tuitions are payable when the student matriculate into the program in Italy (no application fees). The tuition is composed of governmental taxes, with amounts varying between variable 658€ to 2.258€, depending upon the family income (international students usually pay less than 1,000€ per year).
Students will be pre-evaluated by the Admission Board when they will have completed the on-line application. Enrollment at UPO
The University offers you a number of courses with specific systems provided for assessment and tests to evaluate the knowledge of incoming students. It is possible to choose a full-time or a part-time study plan. The undergraduate degree programmes last three years, with the exception of the Five-year or Six-year Single Cycle Degrees (Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology, Law). Once graduated, you can decide to enter the labour market immediately or to continue your studies, choosing a first level master degree (1 year), or a two-year postgraduate degree, which allows you to enter higher level education such as Specialisation Schools, Doctorates, second level master degrees.
