The International Hellenic University (IHU) was established by Law No. 3391 in October 2005 and is based in Thessaloniki, Greece. The IHU is Greece’s first state university, where programmes are taught exclusively in English.

Applying for a postgraduate programme

To be considered for a postgraduate programme at the IHU, candidates are required to have:

  • a good university degree in a relevant subject from a recognised University
  • proof of English competence (Proficiency or recently acquired IELTS or TOEFL)
  • two academic references

A personal interview may be required.

To be considered for the EMBA programme, candidates are required to have, in addition to the above mentioned requirements, a minimum of two years’ full-time work experience gained after graduation.

Applications are open until all the available places are filled. Therefore you should apply as early as possible to ensure place availability. The courses start every October, apart from the EMBA which starts every January.

This programme offers a rich curriculum that emphasizes on communication networks and the underlying technologies and vulnerabilities, while at the same time covering critical topics such as information security, forensics, legal and ethical issues etc. The lecture series by leading academics from Greece and abroad, along with projects and dissertation work, ensure that students graduate equipped with state-of-the-art scientific knowledge and modern practical skills, on their way to become highly competitive at international level. This programme is designed for University graduates of Telecommunications, Informatics/Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering but also of Natural Sciences and Economic and Business Departments, with a strong background in ICT and a strong motivation to pursue a career in Communications and Cyber Security related domains. The Structure The MSc in Communications and Cyber Security (full-time) is a 14-month programme taught over three terms. Lectures mainly take place on weekday evenings. It is also available in part-time mode over 26 months for those who cannot commit to a full-time programme either for work or other reasons. Upon arrival at the IHU all students attend foundation courses in Java and SQL, that aims to bring all incoming students to the same level with respect to some of the programming knowledge that is required. During the first term, all students are required to follow five (5) mandatory core courses. During the second term, all students follow a further three (3) required courses combined with two (2) elective courses. Finally, during the third term, work is dedicated exclusively to the Master's dissertation. The 14-month course will appeal to graduates pursuing a career in a range of entrepreneurial, managerial and marketing positions in the ICT or other similar IT-oriented domain in the emergent creative economy. Standing on the shoulders of the WWW's success, the introduction of smartphones brought about a new technological revolution, which many had foreseen as a necessary next step. Today, these two technological fields have converged into a common track, where applications and infrastructure are advancing hand-in-hand toward the vision of Ubiquitous Computing and Web 3.0. In our effort to address this trend we introduce the “MSc in Mobile and Web Computing” programme. The dissertation is an individual 10,000- word paper of original scientific work, which upon completion is submitted for examination and approval by a three-member committee chaired by the student’s supervisor. Consulting project (optional): During the last part of the taught terms, students participate in a consulting project relevant to their interests. In groups, students study an actual problem of a particular tourism firm or organisation. Following analysis of the problem, the students prepare and present concrete and practical solution(s). The Programme The programme considers the history and the archaeology of ancient Macedonia, covering the region of Macedonia and the Macedonians from the Mycenaean period until the Roman era. Programme Structure Core modules: The historical sources (written sources, inscriptions, coins) | Ancient History (Archaic and Classical periods) | Institutions of the Macedonian Kingdom | Languages and dialects in Macedonia | Ancient Art (monumental art) | The East before and after Alexander the Great Elective modules (you can choose four): Historical Geography and Cartography of ancient Macedonia | The Prehistoric and Archaic Macedonia | Archaeological sites of Macedonia 1 (the colonies) | Archaeological sites of Macedonia 2 (the cities of the Kingdom) | Ancient History (Roman Period) | Ancient Art (metalworking, statuettes, etc.) | Cults and beliefs | The Hellenistic Kingdoms | Excavation Excavation: An important part of the students’ education on this MA will be their participation in a training excavation to be organised by the International Hellenic University within the specific framework of the MA.
