The MA in Clinical Neuropsychology focuses on the understanding behavioural and cognitive deficits that follow damage to the brain in clinical populations such as neurological patients (e.g., stroke and epilepsy), people with neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders, and children with neurodevelopmental conditions. This course equips students with all the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in Clinical Neuropsychology. Clinical neuropsychologists use tools of neuropsychological assessment to map the cognitive profile of patients and children with brain injury and develop rehabilitation programmes and interventions to improve the cognitive function and quality of life of these patients. Students of both Master programmes will be trained to use state-of-art equipment to train brain activity and measure psychophysiological responses in our brand new Neurofeedback Laboratory - recently added to our premises -, as well as practical training on Neuropsychological Assessment. Both programmes are open to candidates with a degree in psychology as well as graduates and professionals from health-related disciplines. The programmes will be taught in English and will be offered both in full-time and part-time mode, starting the academic year 2015-16. Classes will be taking place on weekdays during afternoon hours. Students learn about the relationship between the brain and human behaviour using state-of-art EEG technology (e.g., Neurofeedback) in our laboratory, as well as practical training on Neuropsychological Assessment. Also, our students will be trained to develop personalized intervention programmes for patients with brain injury. This is an English taught Master’s programme on Clinical Neuropsychology (with a practicum) that gives its graduates the opportunity to get a postgraduate British University degree and acquire their practical experience on Clinical Neuropsychology. Students can seek professional rights via the International route of the Health and Care Professions Council (UK) on an individual basis as a Practitioner Psychologist. Careers Our MA in Clinical Neuropsychology responds to the increased demand for clinical neuropsychologists in the EU counties, and particularly in South East Europe. Importantly, this program helps students develop general critical, research, analytic and problem-solving skills that can be applied in a wide range of settings. Graduates with an MA in Clinical Neuropsychology may pursue careers and become employed in various clinical settings and rehabilitation centers, or they may work independently as a practitioner neuropsychologist. Also, they may be employed as consultants for insurance companies or legal services. The MA in Clinical Neuropsychology provides the opportunity to work in multidisciplinary environments, either research-oriented, or industry-oriented, such as Neuromarketing applications.
