PFH Private University of Applied Sciences, established in 1995, is a state-recognized university that focuses on training and educating future managers and specialists in key technologies. PFH Hansecampus Stade is located in CFK-Valley, a world-leading cluster in carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) technology, and comprises 3,000sqm of lecture halls, conference and seminar rooms and stateof-the-art laboratories. Home to key operations of Airbus and over 100 other European companies in the field of composites, all CFRP process chain stages including R&D, production and recycling take place here. With a 1,000-year-old history and high density of high-tech industries, Stade is a city that hovers between tradition and innovation. As part of the metropolitan region of Hamburg, Stade provides an ideal location for industry and science while offering its inhabitants of about 50,000 the advantages of both a small town and a big city. PFH Management graduates are employed throughout the world and in a wide variety of industries today: as a marketing manager in Asia, as a controller in a DAX company, as an adviser in a public auditing firm, as an international market representative for an automotive group, as a brand specialist in the food industry, as a managing director of the graduate's own start-up or as a Professor of Business Administration at a university. Qualification with a Job Guarantee We offer graduates of the study programme in General Management (M.Sc.) a job guarantee. With this guarantee, PFH undertakes to repay 20 percent of tuition fees if you have completed your Master's programme within the standard period of study and, despite your own initiative and the University's own Career Service, have not found a suitable job within 9 months. If you have also acquired the Bachelor's qualification in General Management or Business Administration at PFH before embarking upon the Master's degree course, you will get back the tuition fees for one year. Incidentally, PFH has needed to redeem this promise only six times in its history, with over 600 Management graduates. Our graduates are sought after in business and usually have a firm contractual commitment even before they complete their studies. Requirements and Application Procedure The entry requirement is a Bachelor's degree or Diplom in Business Sciences. If you have gained fewer than 210 credits in your first studies (for instance, in the case of Bachelor's degrees with 180 ECTS), you can make up for the deficit in a short time by means of bridging courses attended alongside your studies. The Master's degree in "Verbundwerkstoffe/Composites" is intended for engineers and graduates of mathematics and natural sciences with professional experience, who would like to gain a qualification in the area of composites via the professional development route. The particular focus of the study programme is on both carbon fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP, colloquially known as "carbon") and glass fibre-reinforced plastics (GFRP). The course is structured as a total of four block units, each of 17 days' duration, and a weekend course. You can complete the study programme either in German or in English. It is accredited by the Accreditation Agency ASIIN and state-recognised. The study programme extends over three semesters, is worth a total of 60 ECTS and contains seven modules that have been coordinated in terms of content. In the first and second semester of the study programme taught in German, you will attend one two-week and one one-week block of courses as well as five weekend courses. In the study variant taught in English, you will complete a total of four block units, each of 17 days' duration, and a weekend course. In addition, blended-learning aspects accompany the study programme. The third semester in both study variants is reserved for the Master's thesis and oral defence . This split ensures that you can coordinate study programme and simultaneous professional activity optimally. Study Content The first two semesters are given over to theoretical consolidation of the engineering science content, focusing particularly on the conceptual and structural design of fibre composites, partially/fully automated manufacturing processes and process optimisation. You will also obtain extensive knowledge about designing multi-functional composites and implementing intelligent fibre composite structures. Business Administration content, such as Internal Accounting & Controlling (in the context of a business simulation game), Innovation and Strategic Management, are also integrated into the first semester.
