Introduction

The Oldenburg/East Frisia/Wilhelmshaven University of Applied Sciences was founded in 2000 by merging the formerly independent universities at these locations. With some 10,000 students, 800 staff, and a budget of more than EUR 60 million, it was Lower Saxony's largest university of applied sciences.

Studying and living at the top

Germany's youngest university lies in the north-west, at the very top of the country. Currently about 7,500 young people with a passion for the future are studying in Wilhelmshaven, Oldenburg and Elsfleth. 180 professors teach them, always taking a personal interest and facilitating contacts with potential employers.

All three campuses look back on a long tradition in their separate subject fields. Nautical education in Elsfleth goes back to 1832. Oldenburg has trained engineers since 1877, and in Wilhelmshaven the original Academy for Managers was founded in 1947.

Bringing together business players and academics is a key function of our Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office. Integrated in various research and innovation networks, its staff at the three campuses link the university with businesses as well as local authorities and associations. This is the right place to go for all enquiries about research and knowledge transfer. Your contacts in the TTO advise you personally on your individual options for cooperation and funding. Forms of cooperation range from small projects in order research to international projects with funding running into several million euros. Partners included here are regional small and medium-sized enterprises, but also supra-regional organisations and large German industrial companies.

When good ideas from university projects develop into business models, potential founders can receive support from the "GründerBox" in Wilhelmshaven and the start-up workshop "VentureLAb" in Oldenburg. That can be in the form of cheap infrastructure, advice and coaching ahead of the venture foundation. Other services from the Transfer Office are planning and organisation of workshops, events and trade show presentations.

The 2-semester master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering is a degree program in Jade model of the Jade University. In Jade model Bachelor and Master programs are interlocked.
